2010 ANNUAL CONFERENCE
March 14-17, 2010
Hilton Garden Inn, Tupelo, MS
Our 2010 Conference not only addressed concerns in the field of public safety but also reached new goals in providing updated technologies and education for all of the 2010 attendees.
Furthermore, a wide variety of Speakers and Vendors shared their knowledge with our telecommunicator, as well as others in this ever-expanding profession. Also exhibited were new equipment lines, resources and updated materials to stay in the forefront of this high tech field of our world today. Several of our telecommunications’ voiced our 2010 conference as being one the best they had ever attended.
Success is always achieved when you have a joint effort of dedicated professionals and people who work together as a team. The Association of Public Safety Communications Officials MS Chapter board members have worked together as such to provide this continuing education for the telecommunicator and to keep the dispatchers informed on the latest technology and information possible at this time.
Conference 2010 was full of many good times a lot of laughter and also a lot of tears. The conference attendees were treated to a tour of the Tupelo Buffalo Park & Zoo on Monday night with a cook out at the park to follow, hosted by Plant CML.
Tuesday night banquet was a very emotional night for several dispatchers that attended. This night was dedicated to a fallen officer, Master SGT Steve Hood with MS Highway Patrol. Officer Hood vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, causing fatal injuries while in pursuit of a violator.
Officer Steve Hood is survived by his wife two daughters and a son. Officer Hood served with the agency for 26 years. The APCO-MS Chapter dedicated this year conference in his memory. He will never be forgotten for all the years Officer Hood dedicated his life and time to keep us safe.
Thank you Master Sergeant Steve Hood for being so courageous and putting your life on the line for us. “No Greater love than… this that a man lay down his life for another.”
